When my grandpa returned from war after having been in captivity he had a gold dollar hidden safely in the sole of his shoe that he had traded tobacco for, or at least that´s how the story is told in my family along with many others such as my great grandma inherited a million Reichsmark and lost it again, or the one where my grandpa discovered ambushed money then lent it to a friend and never got it back. These are the dreams of wealth that never quite materialized.
